Dr. JIANG Danchi from the University of Tasmania Visits IGCAS TEXT SIZE: A A A

At the invitation of Dr. LENG Chengbiao at the State Key Laboratory of Ore Deposit Geochemistry, Dr. JIANG Danchi, Senior Lecturer (Tenured) in the University of Tasmania, visited IGCAS during November 2-3.

On the afternoon of November 2, Dr. JIANG Danchi presented a talk entitled “Data thinking for geoscience and mineral deposits”, in which he described the special features of geoscientific data (geosci-data) for mineral deposits, potential methods for data processing and understanding, industrial trends in data science and speculations on data analysis of our interests, and possible topics for further discussion and collaboration. The presentation was greatly appreciated by the researchers and graduate students, and was followed by lively interactive discussions.

JIANG Danchi obtained his Ph.D. from the Australian National University in 1997. He then worked at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1996 to 1998 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In 1999 he moved to Canada, and was employed by the City of Toronto. During 2003 to 2005, he worked in National ICT Australia Ltd-Canberra Node, and was also an adjunct Research Fellow in the Australian National University. From 2005 to present, he is a Senior Lecturer (Tenured) and the chair in Computer Systems Engineering, School of Engineering and ICT, University of Tasmania. Recently, he joined the Research Hub for Transforming the Mining Value Chain (TMVC) of University of Tasmania as a Chief Investigator, and focused on the utilization of the ICT enabling technology to ore deposits.
