Abstract: The concentrations of dissolved U have been measured in the Wujiang River and its major tributaries. Meanwhile, the geochemical characteristics of dissolved U have been discussed, including the relations between the water chemical characteristics , lithological characters and human activities. The results showed that the average concentration of dissolved U in the Wujiang River is 0.504μg/L, higher than the global average (0.186μg/L) and Yangtze average (0.45μg/L), but lower than that of the Yellow River (4.86μg/L). The concentrations of dissolved U in the Wujiang River Basin are mainly determined by dissolution of carbonate rocks, especially by dolostones, indicating that the geochemical characteristics of U are effected significantly by biological activities during diagenesis of marine carbonates. Compared with the situation ten years ago, the impact of human activities on U concentrations in the Wujiang River Basin has been obviously enhanced.
