Abstract:In typical industrial cities, education areas and industrial areas always interlaced together. The dust generated by surrounding enterprises will directly harm the health of school children. This paper takes Jiaozuo, a typical industrial city in the Central China Plain, as the research object, and collects 30 dust samples from 6 primary and middle schools to analysis the heavy metal pollution characteristics, health risk assessment and sources. ICP-MS was used to determine the concentration of eight heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu, As, Cr, Co, Mn). The results showed that: (1) Zn, Cu, As, Pb, Cr and Ni in dust samples all exceeded the corresponding soil background values, especially the Pb and Zn, which enhanced by 6.31 and 5.66 times. The Geo-accumulation index showed that the index value followed in the descending order of Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu, As, Cr, Co and Mn. Co and Mn is no contaminated, Cu, As, Cr are slightly contaminated, Zn and Ni are moderately contaminated, Pb is moderately to heavily contaminated.(2) The total non-carcinogenic risk decrease in order of Mn>Cr>As> Pb>Co>Ni>Cu>Zn. Among them, the non-carcinogenic risk of Mn, Cr and As is greater than 1, and there is a non-carcinogenic risk for children. Hand-oral ingestion is the main route of non-carcinogenic risk. The non-carcinogenic risk sequence of each school is as follows: Yangzhuang primary school > People's middle school > Wanfang primary school > Guangming middle school > Hope primary school > Tanan road primary school. The carcinogenic risks of As, Ni, Cr and Co are not higher than the safety threshold, and the carcinogenic risks are all within the acceptable range. (3) The main sources of heavy metals in dust removal in this study area are in order of industrial emissions from coal burning (32.5%) > vehicle emissions (25.7%) > industrial manufacturing (25.2%) > road and industrial dust removal (16.7%).
