Abstract: The Houzhai river basin, a typical small basin in the southwest China karst area, was selected to analyze spatial variabilities of four high content ions (HCO3-, Ca2+, SO42- & Mg2+) in the karst area using the geostatistical analysis method. The research showed that these ions were positively spatially autocorrelated, especially SO42– and Ca2+. The degree of spatial autocorrelation and the variation range of these ions were different due to different sources and influencing factors. According to the ratio of C0/(C0+C), HCO3-, Ca2+ and SO42- were moderate spatial correlated ions and Mg2+ was the strong spatial correlated ion which received more significant influences of structural factors. The spatial variabilities of all ions were isotropic in a specific distance range and were affected by structural factors (e.g. lithology and regional geological structure) beyond.
