Abstract:The paper deals with nitrogen distribution in groundwater and the sources of nitrogen pollution in Linzhou-Anyang area. Based on methods of Piper graphand spass20 software, groundwater geochemical characteristics and nitrogen cycling were also studied. Results show that the main geochemical type of groundwater in the northwest of the study area is HCO3-Ca-Mg, while the main geochemical type of groundwater in the eastern plains is HCO3-Ca-Mg and the secondary types are HCO3-SO4-Ca-Mg, HCO3-Cl-Ca and HCO3-Cl-Mg-Ca. The sources of groundwater nitrogen pollution are mainly distributed in the north of Linzhou City and Anyang Country, as well as the southeast of Anyang City. Moreover, farming activities, excretion of livestock and sewage disposal are considered as the main sources for nitrogen pollution. The phenomenon of nitrogen migration and transformation existing in groundwater and denitrification is found in groundwater, but nitrogen mainly comes from the contribution of pollution sources.
