Abstract: Concentrations of organic carbon (OC)and element carbon (EC) in PM2.5 were measured at two sites in Guiyang City, P.R. China from October 14 to December 25, 2013. Results showed that the average concentrations of OC and EC in PM2.5 were 14.9 and 2.31 μg/m3 in autumn and were 26.2 and 7.53 μg/m3 in winter; respectively. Moreover, OC/EC ratios in PM2.5in autumn and winter all exceeded 2.0, suggesting that there existed secondary organic carbon in ambient air in both autumn and winter. The average mass concentration of SOC was 6.89μg/m3in autumn and 8.29 μg/m3 in winter. The percentage of eight carbon fractions in PM2.5 indicates that primary sources of particulate pollution of Guiyang City were vehicle exhaust, road dust and biomass combustion in autumn, and vehicle exhaust, coal combustion and road dust in winter.
