Abstract: The GC-CVAFS method was used to measure the contents of methylmercury (MeHg) in paddy soil, and the distribution characteristics and influencing factors of MeHg were studied from the regional dimension. The study areas were located in the surroundings of the main rivers closely contacting with the Hg-mined areas in Wanshan of Guizhou Province. The results showed that the contents of MeHg and total mercury(THg) range from 0.72 to 10.46 ng/g and 0.49 to 188 μg/g, respectively. Furthermore, the methylation rates range from 0.002% to 0.47%. The distribution of MeHg concentrations decreases away from Hg-mined areas in all six detected areas. At the same time, SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, TS, TP, TN, organic matter, pH and other soil properties were analyzed to understand the impact factors of MeHg in paddy soil. The statistical results showed that MeHg is positively correlated with THg, TS, TP, TN, organic matter, but shows a negative correlation with SiO2. The results showed MeHg in paddy soil is not only related with THg, but also related with some nutrition factors in the soils.
