AbstractThis paper elaborated the application history of 210Pb and 137Cs in the lagoons of the Nile Delta and the difficulties involved in previous studies. The recent study by the author has further confirmed the utilization potential of 210Pb and 137Cs in the sedimentation rate of the lagoons of the Nile Delta. At the same time, some suggestions were also proposed by the author in the aspects of borehole location, lithology, sampling interval, calculation model, etc. In this paper it is supposed to help better understand the lake sedimentation processes and lake pollution history under the influence of intense human activities.

Key words: 210Pb and 137Cs; Nile Delta; sedimentation rate
