Abstract:Species composition of plants in karst forests in the Maolan region were studied preliminarily by plots and line transect method. The results showed soil surface and stony surface are primary microhabitats in the study area , so plants are mostly grown on soil surface and stony surface. Based on the average number of plants in every area unit, plants make full use of stony crevices, the rest may be deduced by analogy: soil surface >stony surface>stony gully.

Key words: karst; microhabitat; microclimate
