Abstract: Nanogeochemistry is an interdisciplinary field evolving from combination of nanotechnology and geochemistry. It studies formation and special properties of the ubiquitous naturally-occurring nanomaterials as well as their impacts on geochemical processes. This paper briefly reviews the origin and recent research progresses of nanogeochemistry. Some thoughts and suggestions on its future developments are also provided.
