Abstract:This paper reviews important progresses and contributions achieved by Chinese scientists on the researches of adakites from slab melting and adakitic rocks from non-slab melting from the year 2000 to present. We divided adakitic rocks into four origin types as following: (1) adakitic rock produced by direct partial melting of lower crust; (2) adakitic rock generated by partial melting of delaminated lower crust; (3) adakitic rock by differentiation of a basaltic magma at high pressure condition; (4) adakitic rock by magma mixing. We conclude that "partial melting of delaminated lower crust", "lithospheric delamination", and "magma mixing" to form adakitic rock are new origin models suggested by Chinese scientists. Finally, we address and discuss the genetic relationship between adakitic rock and porphyry Cu-Mo-Au deposit from non-subduction setting.

Key Words: adakite; adakitic rocks; slab melting; partial melting of delaminated lower crust; magma mixing; porphyry Cu-Mo-Au deposit
