Abstract: The Zhugongtang lead-zinc deposit is located within the southwestern margin of the Yangtze paraplatform and in the northwest end of the YaduMangdong fault zone. In this paper, on the basis of summarizing geological characteristics of the deposit, we have carried out tests of geological, geophysical, geochemical, and remote sensing exploration technical methods and then have established the mineral prospecting model by combining relevant mineral prospecting indicators. Researches show that anomalies of remote sensing information distributed along the faulting fracture belts are mostly related to the lead-zinc mineralization. The low resistance anomaly defined by the AMT survey reflects the spatial distribution characteristics of the lead-zinc orebody. The metal activity profile and organic hydrocarbon anomaly have good correspondence with the ore-controlling fault. We have summarized ore-prospecting indicators including the stratigraphic lithology, structure, wallrock alteration, remote sensing information of alteration, geophysical and geochemical anomalies, and then have preliminary established the following ore-prospecting model: to identify main ore-controlling factors and the prediction of ore-prospecting direction based on studies of the metallogenic regularity  to determine structural frameworks and potential ore-prospecting targets based on the interpretation remote sensing data  to outline ore-prospecting targets based on the analysis of geochemical anomalies combined with metallogenic geological conditions  to locate spatial locations of ore-induced anomalies by using geophysical prospecting methods such as the AMT  to delineate orebodies through the verification of drilling engineering. The model has been applied to undertake the prospecting and exploration in the periphery of the Zhugongtang deposit, such as to guide the layout of boreholes and to delineate lead-zinc orebodies in the depth.
