Abstract: In order to find out mineralogical characteristics of fine flake graphite ores in the Heiniwan graphite deposit, Sichuan Province, the chemical composition, mineral composition and crystal structure of the ore have been studied by using means of the XRF, XRD, SEM and Raman spectrometray.?The results show that there is fine flake graphite ore containing cryptocrystalline graphite in the Heiniwan deposit. The graphite ore samples have fixed carbon contents varying from 12.2% to 47.04%. and minerals of quartz, chlorite, muscovite and sericite, etc. The main chemical compositions of sample ashes are SiO2, Al2O3, K2O, Fe2O3, MgO, V2O5, TiO2, P2O5, Na2O and so on. All graphite samples mainly have 2H type structure graphite, with 3R type structure graphite in different degrees. They have lattice parameters of a values varying from 0.2454nm to 0.2467 nm, c values varying from 0.609 nm to 0.6726 nm, cell volumes (V) varying from 0.0348 nm3 to 0.0355 nm3, and graphitization degrees varying from 0.7301 to 0.9495. They have contents of 3R polytype graphite ranging from 10.274% to 17.194%. Their oxidation temperatures vary from 600℃ to 700℃.
