Abstract: The Hongshuiquan Pb-Zn-Ag deposit is a carbonate rock formation hosted deposit in the northwestern Great Xing’an Range. Its genesis has been limitedly studied. Based on the mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of sulfides in the deposit, we have discussed the genesis and the source of ore-forming materials of the deposit in this paper. Mineralogical data show that there are two generations of sphalerites, whose trace element FeS thermometer indicating that the early main metallogenic stage occurred in the mid-temperature range, with Zn/Cd ratios ranging from 160 to 215. Galena is characterized with rich in Ag and Sb but poor in Bi. The Co/Ni ratios of pyrites are higher than 1, and the average Fe/(S+As) ratio of pyrites is 0.871. The typomorphic characteristics of these three sulfides indicate that the genesis of the deposit is characterized with the middle-low temperature, middle-shallow level, and the superimposition of magmatic hydrothermal fluid and sedimentation. The sulfur isotopes (δ34S) of pyrites, sphalerites and galenas range from -6.13‰ to 0.25‰, with an average value of -2.8‰, suggesting that the sulfur was mainly deep sourced sulfur derived from magma, with minor strata sulfur sourced from the ore-bearing carbonate rocks. The overall characteristics of sulfur isotopes show that the sulfur of the deposit was characterized with a mixture of magmatic sulfur and strata sulfur. The 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb values of three sulfides are 18.46-18.55, 15.59-15.65, and 38.08-38.51, respectively. They are is similar to lead isotopic compositions of the diorite. Lead isotopic compositions of sulfides of the Hongshuiquan deposit and those of the diorite are linearly correlated and mainly plotted in the orogenic belt and upper crust evolution interval in the tectonic discrimination diagram. In summary, it is considered that the Hongshuiquan Pb-Zn-Ag deposit is a medium-low temperature hydrothermal fluid filling vein type of Pb-Zn-Ag deposit.
