Abstract: The Lincang area is located in the Lincang-Menghai Fe-Pb-Zn-Au-Ag-Sn-Sb-Ge-REE metallogenetic zone. Based on data of the stream sediment survey at scale of 1:50000 in the Lincang area, the geochemical characteristics of stream sediments have been made statistical analysis. Based on characteristics of element associations, geological background, and ore-forming conditions, we have delineated out ten comprehensive anomalies and four prospecting targets. Through the anomaly investigation, a certain amount of rare earth resources has been found. The relationship between geochemical anomalies of stream sediments and ion adsorption type REE deposits is summarized. The anomaly center can be inferred to the REE enriched part of the ore-forming parent rock, while the marginal part of anomaly could be the favorable supergene environment for the REE enrichment and mineralization. This work could be expected to provide useful information for the future exploration of the ion adsorption type REE deposit.
