Abstract: The Zhugongtang lead-zinc deposit is located in the eastern part of the Sichuang-Yunnan-Guizhou Pb-Zn polymetallic metallogenic region. It is the first concealed super-large MVT lead-zinc deposit discovered in carbonate rocks of the Middle Permian Qixia Formation in the area after eight years of exploration (2013-2020). Based on the analysis of the metallogenic geological background, characteristics of the deposit, and the structural ore-controlling characteristics of the Zhugongtang area, we have believed that the Zhugongtang lead-zinc deposit was controlled by the Ziyun-Yadu thrust detachment structural system. The fracture-controlling is one of its basic characteristics. Through the systematic exploration, we have discovered the large sized concealed lead-zinc orebody with the lead-zinc resource of 3274400 tons, and have achieved the biggest breakthrough in the history of lead-zinc prospecting in Guizhou Province. The exploration practice of the Zhugongtang lead-zinc deposit has important guidance and reference values for prospecting lead-zinc resources in the northwestern Guizhou.
