Abstract: The techniques of petrographic and mineralographic microscopic identification, X-ray powder diffraction semi-quantitative analysis, fluid inclusion test analysis, and electron probe analysis have been applied to study the Paqiabulake celestine deposit in Wuqia County, Xinjiang Autonomous Region in this paper. With the combination of the calculated temperature of hydrothermal fluid by using geothermometer, the genesis of the celestine deposit has been discussed. The results show that there are main ore types of thick bedded or massive celestite, celestitized limestone, celestitized siliceous breccia, and brecciated celestite, with main minerals of celestine, calcite and dolomite in the Paqiabulake celestine deposit. Moreover, there are three kinds of fluids, namely, gas phase high-temperature medium-salinity fluid, liquid phase medium-temperature high-salinity fluid, and liquid phase low-temperature low-salinity fluid. The celestite deposit is believed to have experienced two periods and five stages of mineralization. The two periods of mineralization are the hot brine syngenetic sedimentary diagenetic mineralization period and the basin fluid reworking period. The five mineralization stages are the strontium-rich hot brine syngenetic deposition-metasomatism stage, strontium-rich hot brine syngenetic deposition stage, hot brine SEDEX stage, carbonate-bearing hot water mixed deposition stage, and basin fluid reworking stage, respectively.
