Abstract: The variety of Qingtian Stone is numerous. Based on the color, four typical kinds of Qingtian Stone, such as Ziluolan, Jicailu, Honghuaxing and Hongmudong, are studied in the paper. By means of microscope, SEM, XRD, electron microprobe and ICP-MS analysis, their mineralogical characteristics are presented and their color geneses are also discussed. The results are as follows: Ziluolan, which is mainly composed of illite, with little andalusite and kaolinite, is in violet color because of the high content of Ti, Mn and Fe in it; Jicailu is mainly composed of pyrophyllite and associated with chlorite. Its green color is considered to be caused by its high content of Fe, Cr and Ni. However,if its content of Fe is excessive, it will be with grey tone; Honghuaxing is mainly composed of pyrophyllite, with little kaolinite. The content of Ti and Fe, which is low in pyrophyllite but high in inclusion, together with the effect of Cr involved, make Honghuaxing to be vivid red; Hongmudong is also mainly composed of pyrophyllite. It is of the highest content of Fe and Ti, which makes it deep rufous.
