Abstract: The Neoproterozoic Akesu group metamorphic rocks widely expose in Wuqia area in the Northwestern margin of the Tarim Basin. Characteristics of sedimentary are found in biotite quartz schist according to the results of field observations and petrography features. Akesu group metamorphic temperature-pressure conditions indicate low greenschist facies of excess aluminum. These rocks show obvious enrichment in LREE, and HREE shows flat patterns. Geochemical characteristics demonstrate that the protolith of Akesu group metamorphic rocks are composed of calcium components of sandstone or graywacke. The material origin discrimination results show that metamorphic rocks come from island arc, which is consistent with the results of tectonic environments discrimination.
