Abstract: In order to search for new Zisha mineral resources and to provide scientific reference for the research and application of Zisha mineral materials, we used various modern ore determination & analysis techniques to get comprehensive results. By comparing different mineralogy and petrology features between pot clay from Rong County and clay from Yixing Zisha, we concluded that pot clay from Rong County is composed of SiO2 (64.29 %), Al2O3 (22.72%), Fe2O3 (6.51%), and K2O (3.81%); sum of above is 97.33% and the harmful composition CaO content is 0.35% only. Mineral compositions of quartz, kaolinite, illite and hemalilte are 35%-40%, 25%-30%, 30%-35%, and 3%-5%, respectively. Pot clay from Rong County is mainly massive structured and silty argillaceous structured. The quartz component is evenly distributed with a granularity index of 10-250 μm. Its thermal weight loss is 4.99% on average and takes off the hydroxyl at temperature about 515 ℃. With all the similarities on mineralogy and petrology feature straits of Zisha clay from Yixing area, we are able to identity Rong County pot clay as a good Zisha mineral resources. In addition, the prunosus and light green components in pot clay from Rong County are similar with the red and green clay from Yixing area, respectively.
