Abstract: Factors were researched using L9(34) orthogonal experiment in order to optimize the regent system in roughing certain nickel ore from Shannxi province, China. Results show that carboxymethyl cellulose had significant influence on nickel grade and copper sulfate had great effect on nickel yield. The 350 g/t sodium hexametaphosphate , 500 g/t carboxymethyl cellulose, 360 g/t copper sulfate, and 420 g/t sodium n-butyl xanthate for the optimal regent dosage were determined after analysis of orthogonal experiment. A nickel rough concentrate with a grade 1.63%, yield 20.48% and recovery 76.60% was obtained under the condition of the optimal regent system. Compared with the traditional process, regent dosage and production index were greatly improved, which had important reference value for guiding the production practice of this mine.
