Abstract: Luoboshan Pb-Zn Deposit, a typical Pb-Zn deposit in Lanping-Simao Basin, is located in the southern section of Sanjiang area. In this paper, we studied the source and formation mechanism of sulfur in the ore-forming fluids. Results show that the δ34S values of studied sulfide minerals are concentrated in the range from -8.83‰ to 1.61‰, which are different from those of the typical mantle-derived sulfur (-3‰ to 3‰) and the marine evaporates (15‰ to 25‰) in Simao Basin, but are similar to those of biological origin sulfur. Therefore, the sulfur in the ore-forming fluids of Luoboshan Pb-Zn deposit may be mainly derived from the seawater sulfate, and the formation mechanism is the bacterial reduction (BSR).
