Abstract: Three types of Mg-Mn layered double hydroxides with molar ratios of 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 were synthesized by an oxidation precipitation method. The structure of synthesized samples was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and thermo gravimetric-differential thermal analysis. The results show that Mg/Mn layered double hydroxides with varying Mg-Mn molar ratios can be successfully prepared by oxidation precipitation, and the obtained layered double hydroxides has a complete structure and single crystal phase. The synthetic Mg3Mn layered double hydroxides as a precursor for calcined products and the mechanism of phase variation of composition at different temperatures is also discussed.
