Abstract: The 510-1 uranium ore deposit is significant in representing as typical regional ore deposit in Zoige County. Through detailed geologic observation in the field and identification of mineral compositions on polished sections and thin sections in the lab, the 510-1 carbonaceous-siliceous-argillitic rock-type uranium deposit can be divided into an upper, a middle and a lower ore zone. Quartz veins formed towards the top of the ore deposit (level No.1 and above). Both quartz veins and calcite veins are to be found in the middle zone (level No.2 to No.4),include primary sulphide minerals (pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, etc.) . Whereas, in the lower ore zone (level No.5 to No.7 and below), only calcite veins and primary sulphide minerals are present but no quartz veins are found. The research indicates that there exists an “acid and alkali isolation” geochemical interface near level No.5 of the 510-1 uranium deposit (320 m or so below the current surface mineralized outcrop). Zoning characteristics of these mineral assemblages provide an important reference for further exploration of Zoige uranium ore field and other deposits.
