Abstract: Luodian nephrite from southern Luodian County was the first nephrite discovered in Guizhou Province. The occurence was found in the contact zone of late Permian diabase and Permian limestones in the Sidazhai formation. Sixteen samples of diabase, silicalite, limestone, marble and nephrite were tested for trace and rare earth element (REE) content. Results show that the highest content of trace and REEdisplayed distinctly different distribution patterns with other samples. The elemental properties of limestone, marble and nephrite are similar. Light REE of all nephrite show negative anomalies of Ce and Eu. On the basis of geologic analysis, mineralization of the nephrite is not directly affected by magma while magmatic thermal driven and deuteric steam-water hydrothermal intrusions were more conducive to mineralization. Besides, two types of Luodian nephrite mineralization were discovered: the endolithic elements’ metasomatic reaction under thermal driven influenc and the hydrothermal alteration.
