Abstract: Beneficiation of fine mineral particles have been an important part of mineral processing recently because of the trivialization of ore size from mines, and have been paid more and more attention to. Selective hydrophobic aggregation is currently one of the most effective methods to process the fine particles mineral, which can process the fine particles mineral effectively. The article describes the distinguishing features of fine mineral particles and formation mechanism of hydrophobic aggregation and analyzes the research status on the main hydrophobic aggregation separation process of shear-flocculation flotation, carrier flotation, oil agglomeration, emulsion flotation and two-liquid separation, as well as the influencing factors of hydrophobic aggregation. This review  indicates that researches on hydrophobic aggregation have good application prospects on the agglomeration and sedimentation of fine particles in coal slurry water.

Key words: fine particles mineral; hydrophobic aggregation; formation mechanism; influencing factor; coal slurry water
