Abstract: Wenshan city has the most concentrated bauxite in Yunnan province, but its geological research is very weak. This paper introduces the distribution, ore type and genesis and prospecting indicators for bauxite deposits in Wenshan City. Three typical bauxite deposits are taken as an example to introduce their geological characteristics and discuss their source. Based on the geological feature, two major ore type are identified as sediment and accumulate types. Metallogenic model was built by analysis of ore-forming materials, which is not only better for understanding the ore genesis of bauxite deposits in Wenshan city, but also provides a practical basis for the bauxite resources exploration in this area.
