Photocatalytic Activity of Ce Doped Hydroxyl iron Intercalated Montmorillonite TEXT SIZE: A A A

Abstract: Ce doped hydroxyl iron intercalated montmorillonite was synthesized with ion exchange method, and it’s catalyst chrematistics were analyzed by using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis (XPS), and BET surface analysis techniques. The photo Fenton catalytic activity of the catalyst was tested under different reaction condition using reactive brilliant blue (KN-R) as model pollutant under UV light. The result indicates that Ce doing is able to enhance the photocatalytic activity of hydroxyl iron intercalated montmorillonite. Under reaction conditon with KN-R initial concentraton of 75 mg/L, pH=3.0, and [H2O2]0=4.9 mmol/L, 99.5% of KN-R can be degradated at t=100 min. The improvement of photocatalyctic performance by Ce doing was also exploited by the experiment and analysis results.
