Dr. Christopher W.N. Anderson who serves as an Associate Professor at Massey University in New Zealand, was invited by Prof. FENG Xinbin to visit IGCAS from Sep. 25 to Oct. 1. 

During his stay in IGCAS, Dr. Christopher W.N. Anderson supervised a number of graduate students to conduct mercury remediation experiments, and assisted the graduate students to figure out the problems encountered in their academic research. With Dr. Anderson's efforts, many students made a good progress in their on-going experiment.

Dr. Christopher W.N. Anderson is an Associate Professor at Massey University in New Zealand, and an Adjunct Professor at IGCAS. He mainly works on the remediation of the polluted soil, and has published about 30 papers in international peer-reviewed journals including Nature and Environmental Science & Technology.

Dr. Christopher W.N. Anderson and Prof. FENG Xinbin at IGCAS have collaborated since 2004, and made dramatic progress in developing methods of remediation and in training young researchers. By collaboration, the two parties have submitted 3 patent applications, published 13 papers in high quality journals, and trained 6 graduate students. The methods developed and the strategies proposed by them have been applied in the mercury pollution remediation in Guizhou province, and achieved good social and economic benefits to the society. Due to his outstanding contributions to the mercury remediation in Guizhou province, Dr. Christopher W.N. Anderson was awarded the Guizhou Scientific and Technical Cooperation Award by the Department of Science and Technology of Guizhou province.
