The Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is one important base for educating high-quality professionals in the field of natural resources and environmental science, and is the first group of qualifiers having the authorization of Master degree-conferring, Ph.D. degree-conferring and Post-Doctoral Circulation Station-establishing in China. The institute now has two Ph.D. degree-conferring faculties (geochemistry, and mineralogy-petrology-mineral deposits), and three master degree-conferring faculties (geochemistry, mineralogy-petrology-mineral deposits, and earth exploration and information technology), and one Post-Doctoral Circulation Station in geology. Up to date, The institute has already educated 293 Ph.D.s, 353 M.S.s and 99 post-doctors. The current students at the institute are composed of 123 Ph.D. students, 117 master students, and 25 post-doctors, who are supervised by 22 Ph.D. supervisors and 44 master supervisors. In recent years, the number of admitted graduate students is rapidly increasing, following the successful implementation of the Knowledge-Innovation Project and the larger demands for graduates from the society. For example, there had 38 Ph.D. students and 48 master students enrolled in 2007, and 39 Ph.D. students and 49 master students will be accepted to the institute in 2008.
